Pueblo Centennial hosted Cheyenne Mountain in its home opener at Dutch Clark Stadium on Friday, Aug. 5.
After suffering an opening week loss to La Junta, the Bulldogs were looking to bounce back in a big way. Unfortunately for them, Cheyenne Mountain was ready for the challenge.
Pueblo Centennial did what it could, but too many missed opportunities in the game cost it a chance at victory. Before long, the game was well out of reach for the Bulldogs.
The Hawks scored in the first quarter early and in the second quarter poured it on to take a 28-0 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, the Bulldogs did show some grit on defense, shutting out Cheyenne Mountain in the third frame.
However, it wasn’t enough as the Hawks scored two more times in the fourth quarter. Ricky Cordova of Pueblo C
