SCHENECTADY, NY (NEWS10) -- The Queensbury football team fell 13-0 to Section 1's Mahopac to open the Upstate/Downstate Kickoff Classic at Union College.

Both defenses thrived early on, scoreless in the second quarter, Queensbury's Luke Mootz grabbed an interception on an Ethan Dedvukaj throw to set the Spartans up in plus territory. The Mahopac defense would step up however and keep Queensbury off the scoreboard, sending the game to halftime in a scoreless tie.

It was not until the middle of the third quarter that points were put on the scoreboard, when Alex Girua would intercept a pass for Mahopac and run it back for a touchdown. The pick-6 put the Wolf Pac up 6-0. Mahopac would add to the lead in the fourth with a touchdown run to bring the score to 13-0.
