LUCAS – The Lovejoy and Highland Park football teams tried to wait out Mother Nature for much of Friday night, but she ultimately got the last laugh.
The Leopards and Scots were hit with a two-and-half-hour lightning delay that took effect 20 minutes before their scheduled 7:30 p.m. kickoff, but managed to squeeze in just under one half of play before a second bout with inclement weather emerged – ultimately causing the non-district game to be halted with 3:54 left in the second quarter, and with Highland Park leading 21-0.
