GAINESVILLE — For the first 24 minutes, something special brewed in the humid air of Citizens Field .

Eastside , winless vs. crosstown rival Buchholz since 2012, looked ready. Ready for the long, painful streak to end. It was going to be a night of celebration for the Rams players and fans.

For one night, it wasn’t going to be the west side – home of all the city investment and new shops – going home victorious. It was going to be the east side. Often neglected and underfunded, but Friday night, they’d emerge winners on their side of town.
