(Alexandria, MN) -- Alexandria evened its season record at 1-1 in prep football Friday night after a 7-0 victory over the visiting Monticello Magic at Viking Bank Field.

Despite Monticello driving into Alexandria territory for the last five Magic possessions, the Cardinals defense held strong all night. After Monticello missed a 29-yard field goal attempt just before halftime, the Magic surged onto the Cardinal side of the field in all four of the second half possessions. The Magic fumbled the ball away inside the Cardinal 5 yard line on the first possession of the third quarter. Monticello's next two series resulted in turnovers on downs at the Alexandria's 3 and 24 yard lines.
