A glamorous Willoughby family home has soared more than $650,000 over reserve, secured by an interstate family chasing a sunny Sydney lifestyle.
Five families registered for the chance to own 50 Hector Road – a capacious, double-brick house on an unusually large block for the lower north shore postcode.
All registered bidders participated in the auction. The gavel fell to a family relocating from Melbourne, who paid $6,658,000.
“The family is moving to Sydney because they like Sydney’s weather better,” said agent Liz Chen of DiJones Willoughby.
The opening bid of $5.4 million was well shy of vendor hopes, but Chen said bidding in rises of $100,000 and $50,000 propelled the contest past the $6 million reserve.
“It was confident and competitive,” she said of the auction.
