SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Interstate 80 will be partially closed for construction this weekend in the Sacramento area, according to Caltrans.

There will be closures on westbound I-80 from the Interstate 5 connector in Sacramento County to the Highway 50 connector in Yolo County. The 55-hour closure will begin 9 p.m. Friday and end on Monday at 4 a.m. There will also be closures on some Sacramento on-ramps.

“Unfortunately, you got to pull the Band-Aid off. You can't pick at the edges. It's just got to be done, even though it's going to hurt a little bit,” Dennis Keaton, public information officer for Caltrans District 3, said.

Keaton said crews will be primarily pulling up the old concrete, hauling it away, and replacing it.
