LA VERNE — Opposing defenses are going to be focusing on stopping Aquinas standout junior running back Champ Brown.

It’s understandable, but also a risky proposition.

Brown was held to 87 yards rushing but he still scored three touchdowns while Charlie Reyes threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 80 more yards, as the Falcons pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 35-13 nonleague victory over host Bonita on Friday night.

“We have some really good receivers, guys who can catch the ball,” Aquinas coach Jordan Brusig said. “And our quarterback can do a lot of stuff. If one of them is not working, we can lean on the other one.

“I think everybody understands their role when their number’s called.”
