HUNTINGTON — The Marshall University football team will have its first home game under coach Tony Gibson at 6 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Missouri State.
The Thundering Herd has never met the Bears, who are in their first season at the Division I FBS level.
Both teams saw tough losses to Power Four opponents in their openers last week. Marshall lost 45-7 to No. 5 Georgia, while USC downed Missouri State 73-13.
Therefore, it’s a matchup based on redemption for both teams.
“It’s going to be exciting to lead them out at home. It’ll be a little more fan-friendly than what we got welcomed to in Athens on Saturday when standing in the tunnel,” Gibson said. “They had a lot of choice words for us while we were getting ready to come out on the field.
“It’ll be more friendly. It’ll be exciting
