Dozens of farmers and owners of agricultural land have benefited financially by either leasing or selling their farmland to developers of massive solar projects in Genesee County.

One of those is CY Properties, which is one of about 15 enterprises that entered into contracts with a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, on the 280-megawatt, 1,600-acre Excelsior Solar Project in the Town of Byron.
