This September, during Hunger Action Month, High Plains Food Bank is calling on the Texas Panhandle to unite in the fight to end hunger.

With food insecurity reaching its highest level in more than a decade, local action has never beenmore critical, according to the food bank. Nationally, food insecurity has reached its highest rate in over a decade, reaching above 47 million people facing hunger, including 14 million children.

Across the 29 counties the High Plains Food Bank serves, food insecurity ranges from 13.3% (1 in 8 individuals) in Armstrong County to 23.9% (1 in 4 individuals) in Swisher County.
