The next council for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) will get raises, although the mayor’s salary won’t change. Council will get a 31 per cent raise to $62,386 from $46,200. The mayor will still make $170,896. Councillors will now get $150 per board or committee meeting they attend, with conditions. The rest of council must have appointed them to that position, they must show up for at least 80 per cent of the meeting and meeting minutes must confirm their presence. Other options presented to council included no changes and phasing in raises during a four-year period. Article content
