Former Lt. Gov. Mark Singel writes of President Donald Trump’s “invasion of the District of Columbia.” Then he adds, “Governor Gavin Newsom of California sued to block the president from turning Los Angeles into a war zone.” This apparently is related to enforcement of our immigration laws.

I took the idea of an invasion, and I connected that to the illegal immigration numbers and the inability of local and state police to deal with the population of people who were in violation of our laws. Does the federal government have a level of duty to secure our borders and to assist our communities with undocumented people who do not respond to local concerns about property rights and safety?
