MINOT — North Dakota has had a lot of legislative vacancies of late.
Rep. Josh Christy of Fargo passed away during the legislative session earlier this year, and Rep. Jeremy Olson of Arnegard resigned amid accusations of misconduct. Since the session concluded this spring, Rep. Cindy Schreiber-Beck of Wahpeton passed away, and Rep. Emily O'Brien of Grand Forks resigned her seat to take a position as deputy Commissioner of the Department of Health and Human Services.
By the way, are you wondering how that last squares with Article IV, Section 6 of the state constitution? The bit of law states, in part: "During the term for which elected, no member of the legislative assembly may be appointed to any full-time office that has been created by the legislative assembly."
