With the Aug. 27 shootings at Annunciation Catholic school in Minneapolis, I was struck by how close to home it hit. Tragedies can happen anywhere — and do. It hits a bit differently when it’s in our state and is too close to home. One thing I think everyone can agree on is Gov. Tim Walz’s response regarding how the tragedy was “unspeakable” and that there were “no words. There should be words.”

What is it going to take to stop senseless violence? What actions will it take to make changes that will not infringe upon our Second Amendment rights?

Another response that struck me was from former President Barack Obama. He said, “We must not become numb to these tragedies.” What must we become? Immune to these senseless tragedies? What is it going to take to stop senseless violence?
