(WJW) — Week 3 of the high school football season is in the books!

FOX 8 crews headed out across the region for the best matchups in Northeast Ohio.

The Friday Night Touchdown Game of the Week featured the Kirtland Hornets and the Perry Pirates in a highly-anticipated matchup, and fans didn't have to wait long for fireworks.

On the opening kickoff, Perry's Traxton Richards took the ball all the way in for a Pirates touchdown and a 7-0 early lead.

Then, on the first play from scrimmage for the hornets, Ty Bledsoe went 65 yards for a Kirtland touchdown.

On the next drive for Perry, Traxton Richards - the kick returner now the quarterback - with a screen to Greg Mechenbier who took it in for a 30-yard touchdown putting Perry back on top.
