Instructive, is it not, that Fargo City Commissioners Michelle Turnberg and Dave Piepkorn seem to have backed off their once-furious stratagem to sack Chief of Police David Zibolski? Not long ago they were calling for his head after he bungled a public briefing and press conference about two downtown shootings. When he finally got to making a statement and holding a news conference, he was condescending and petulant. Not the best performance for the chief, although the kerfluffle over his minor missteps was more about an overly self-important press corps and a cabal of chronic cop critics than what the public was demanding.
