A family-run hotel has been forced to rubbish rumours it is housing asylum seekers after organisers of an anti-immigration protest planned to demonstrate outside.
Bosses at The King Charles Hotel have slammed claims it was housing people under government schemes as “completely untrue”.
It comes after social media posts of a planned protest later this month said demonstrators would be going on a march that would end at the hotel in Brompton Road, Gillingham.
A Facebook post about the protest said: “Spread the word from me please. March on September 20, 1pm from Holiday Inn, Rochester airport, through Chatham High Street.”
It went on to say it would be ending at The King Charles Hotel, before falsely claiming “as they are housing immigrants”.
