A man captured on video ripping down and spitting on a Union Flag has been branded "disgusting".
Tom Kemp erected the national standard on a lamppost in Station Road, Whitstable, outside his dad’s home, as he says it is “amazing seeing streets lined with them”.
The 38-year-old, who put up a flagpole in his own garden about four years ago, was spurred on by a national movement called Operation Raise the Colours, which consists of displaying the St George’s Cross or the flag of the United Kingdom in public places.
But two people were captured approaching the flag Mr Kemp put up before one of them tore the flag down at about 10.30pm yesterday.
The male is then seen to throw the standard on the floor, before spitting and stamping on it.
