So much of the charm of Davis Cup tennis is the live partisan crowd — and the kind of cheering and whooping and hollering that isn’t normally associated with the sport.
If you haven’t been — or haven’t watched it on television — it’s really a scene. And it’s really fun, especially for the home team.
Just not this week in Halifax, where Canada’s matches against Israel at the Scotiabank Centre will be played without spectators. No sound. No noise. No whooping allowed.
A decision made in the name of public safety.
This is our Canada now, sadly where we have become victims to protesters of whatever cause will interrupt our lives. Our leaders look the other way, not wanting to take a stand, not wanting to protect us, not wanting to upset either side in whatever conflict we’re talking about.
