YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - YOUNGSTOWN The Western Reserve Transit Authority (WRTA) showed off the newest safety features on some of their buses.

The WRTA, along with members of the U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) and Youngstown officials, held a press conference to explain how the upgrades will keep the community safe.

The new features were paid for by a U.S. DOT SMART grant which provides funding to public sector agencies with a focus on smart community technologies and systems.

The new upgrades include Forward Collision Avoidance and Automated Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane-Keeping Assistance, and Blind Spot Detection and Side-Impact Alerts.
