Early results for Helena's leadership clash, the Queen City’s first mayoral primary in 24 years, could be available Tuesday night, an official said.
The two mayoral candidates and four City Commission hopefuls with the most votes will advance to the November general election. From there, the final winners will be selected for office: one mayor and two City Commission seats.
As of Monday, voter turnout was at 51%, Elections Division Supervisor Connor Fitzpatrick said.
It’s a big turnout, especially for a municipal and school bond election, he said.
Helena Public Schools is asking for $283 million in bond funding, which would go toward major renovations in elementary and high schools.
"This one's got a lot of interest," Fitzpatrick said.
