Geaux orange: Northeast Louisiana unites for Hunger Action Day

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - September 9, 2025, marks National Hunger Action Day - a pivotal moment in Hunger Action Month, which is a nationwide campaign that mobilizes millions to fight food insecurity.

The Northeast Louisiana Food bank is leading the nationwide effort in our backyard.

In Northeast Louisiana, where 1 in 5 neighbors face hunger, the community is rallying behind the “Geaux Orange” initiative.

With the cost of living rising, more families are turning to food banks for help.

According to the Feeding America organization, food insecurity in America has reached its highest rate in over a decade, with 47 million people, including 14 million children, facing hunger.

According to Feed the Children, Louisiana ranks third in the nation for food insecurity. The Northeast Louisiana Food
