City election commissioners Tuesday voted to put proposals on the November ballot that will fast-track approval of new housing construction — by taking away some power from the City Council.
The charter ballot proposals would chip away at the council’s influence over housing construction and its practice of deferring to the individual council member whose district will be home to a proposed development.
Mayor Eric Adams backs it.
