KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A Kansas City death investigation has now been ruled a homicide, according to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD).
KCPD officers responded to a medical call around 6 a.m. Monday, in the area of Benton Boulevard and Independence Avenue.
When officers arrived on the scene they found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Tuesday, the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office let KCPD detectives know that the victim had wounds consistent with being hit by gunfire.
Homicide detectives have now taken over the investigation.
