As dignitaries, community members and dancers gathered under the powwow arbour on Tuesday, medallions were put out to mark the 150 years since Piapot First Nation signed Treaty 4.
Chief Piapot signed the treaty on Sept. 9, 1875, a year after most First Nations in the Treaty 4 area signed, in what's called an adhesion to the treaty.
"This event provides an opportunity to reflect on our shared history and the spirit of the original treaty agreements," said Piapot First Nation Councillor Jayleen Francis.
