The Washoe County Sheriff's Office updated county commissioners on Tuesday about the protocol for its partnership with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the grant submitted for the county jail's remodel to accommodate ICE's detainee processing.

During the regular detention center update, Commissioner Mariluz Garcia asked the sheriff’s office to address concerns that came up during public comments last month .

At the Aug. 19 meeting, Ed Powell said he’s concerned about the potential “normalization of ICE’s methods,” including agents masking themselves for anonymity and removing people in unmarked cars.
