ABERDEEN, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - On Wednesday, United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell announced that a McLaughlin man had been sentenced to federal prison after he was convicted of Abusive Sexual Contact.

Malachi Adam Marcus Howard, age 22, was sentenced on Monday to 15 years followed by ten years of supervised release.

Howard was indicted by a federal grand jury in November of 2024, and he pleaded guilty in June of 2025.

The conviction stems from conduct that occurred from November 2023 to March 2024, when Howard caused a 10-year-old child to engage in sexual activity in Corson County within the Standing Rock Sioux Indian Reservation.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Valley City, North Dakota, Police Department.
