(NewsNation) — A digital journalist says an 11-year-old child who was allegedly forced to give birth to her stepfather's baby wasn't being protected by any adults.

"They were enabling Dustin (Walker) to be able to do what he was doing," said Justin Shepherd, host of the podcast "Just in the Nick of Crime," on "Banfield" in an appearance Tuesday. "There's no way they didn't know."

Dustin and Cherie Walker of Oklahoma were arrested and charged last month after prosecutors found that a DNA test revealed Dustin was a match for the baby's father.

"This case is really unsettling in a lot of different ways," Shepherd added.

Child's grandmother also charged with neglect

The child's grandmother was also charged with six counts of child neglect in the incident.
