MCKINLEY COUNTY, N.M. —

A growing black bear was removed from a tree north of Gallup after numerous sightings were reported.

The McKinley County Sheriff's Office said the little black bear or other similar bear cubs had been spotted three times over the last 24 hours.

The bear made his way to a home on Coal Basin Road, where he knocked on a window. This led to the bear seeing a human inside and climbing up a juniper tree, according to MCSO.

Responders were able to successfully tranquilize the bear and bring him down from the tree. He was then caged for transport and later released back into the wild.
