Pharr Police Department to host suicide awareness event

PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Pharr Police Department is raising awareness on mental health with its annual suicide prevention event.

September is recognized as Suicide Prevention Month, and the Pharr Police Department is dedicating the month to promoting mental health wellness.

Pharr police invite the community to its fifth annual Stand by Me event, which will feature mental health booths, guest speakers, a trail walk, and a glow stick vigil.

The event will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, at the Pharr Vanguard Academy and Birding Center located at 1025 S. Richmond Rd.
