INDIANAPOLIS — Two Republican City-County councilors are leading a new charge to stop an AES rate hike .
It's a battle over utility bills, and Councilors Michael Paul Hart (R-District 20) and Josh Bain (R-District 21) are joining the fight. They just introduced a resolution urging AES to reconsider the proposal to raise its rates.
"We can't continue to pass along costs to ratepayers when we see these independent system operators like AES raking in millions of dollars in a regulated monopoly profit while continuing to ask ratepayers for more and more and more," Bain said.
The proposed increase would amount to about $21 a month for residential customers. The councilors say Hoosiers can't take it anymore.
"What are you going to tell someone who is living on a fixed income, might be a sing
