HARTFORD, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -On August 23, Matt Steuerwald was racing at Hartford’s I-90...Early in evening, he blew out his engine...and because of cautions, his team made the call to drive back to Steuerwald’s hometown of Madison - just a half hour away.

Steuerwald needed to finish in top 3 for points for the track championship that night, so it was an easy call. And he had to do it once earlier in his career to replace his back bumper.

So was it worth that extra effort?

Yes, because last weekend Steuerwald won the track championship at I-90, something he hadn’t done since 2010.
