CROSS CITY, Fla. (WCJB) - On Tuesday evening at Dixie County High School before the anticipated Union County matchup against the Lady Bears, both teams dedicated the match to the memory of Dixie County student Savannah Langford. The Lady Bears program also retired Langford’s jersey of No. 24.
The Fightin’ Tigers players gave flowers to the Dixie County team, shared a prayer and read a poem that was written by Savannah herself.
Union County and Dixie County fought it up for four emotional sets with the Fightin’ Tigers pulling off the win.
It was a night where the score did not matter, the rivalry is put to the side and a reminder how special it is to appreciate your family, friends and faith like Langford did.
