Jacinta Nampijinpa Price has refused to back in Sussan Ley as a stand-off over the senator’s comments about Indian migrants divides the Liberal Party.

In Perth on Wednesday, Senator Price stopped short of an apology but again expressed regret over her claims that Indian migrants were being brought to Australia because they were more likely to vote Labor.

“My comments were certainly clumsy,” she said.

“Unfortunately, the issue that’s of great concern, which now I won’t silence, the issue of mass migration in our country and that was the prime issue that i was talking about and continue to talk about.”

Asked three times, Senator Price refused to say whether she has confidence in Ms Ley’s leadership.
