Dining at Whaleback Golf Course is on course for improvement, with a contractor picked to revamp its food and beverage building and alfresco area.

The Kilmore Group was unanimously backed by the City of Canning council at its July 29 meeting to upgrade the 40-year-old building as part of plans to make the Parkwood course a key attraction.

Its bid for the work was less than what the city had budgeted for.

The upgrade is expected to give the building a 35 to 45-year lifespan.

The city took over running the course about 18 months ago.

In May the council approved spending $8 million on upgrading the food and beverage facilities and driving range at Whaleback Golf Course.
