Mexicali reports sharp decline in heat-related deaths

Despite a summer of high temperatures, the city of Mexicali has seen a significant decrease in the number of heat-related deaths compared to previous years, according to Karla Edith González Navarro, head of the city’s Family Development (DIF) agency.

La Crónica newspaper reported that so far this year, only eight deaths have been attributed to heat stroke, a substantial improvement from the more than 40 deaths recorded during the same period last year. This positive change is credited to the “S.O.S. Hydrate” campaign, which has distributed over 25,000 kits of water and rehydration serums at fixed points and through daily city routes.
