Crossing the border from Poland into Western Ukraine, visitors are greeted by lush rolling hills. But the bucolic scenery masks the terror that lays ahead.

It is here, on the outskirts of Lviv, where a two-day intensive training is taking place. Training intended to protect visitors to the war-torn region.

The course is led by a man named Dima, who for security purposes only provides his first name. Dima is from the organization 2402, a name taken from the date that Russia launched its full scale invasion of Ukraine. He is a tall, lanky and self-aware young man with piercings and tattoos who in another era, might have been a graduate student studying linguistics.
