NFL Week 1 gave us a few exciting games, but for the most part, offense was lacking around the league. Defense prevailed as offenses looked sloppy and unprepared for the rigors of the NFL season. Turnovers were ripe, three-and-outs were common, and teams struggled to even score 20 points.

That type of showing is not uncommon for Week 1. Defenses often have the upper hand early in the season while offenses are still coming together with whatever major or minor tweaks may arise from the offseason.
