For the first time in nearly a decade, there's a shake-up brewing at the top of Wilmington high school girls tennis.

Hoggard (9-0) proved its hot start to the 2025 season is no fluke on Sept. 2, defeating rival New Hanover for the first time since 2017.

The victory snapped the Wildcats' incredible 102-match conference win streak, a run that stretched over eight years. Even more impressive? The Vikings didn't just win, they dominated, cruising to an 8-1 victory while dropping only one match.
