An overhaul of Fort Erie’s public works headquarters that was put on pause earlier this summer now has town town councillors wanting options to its more than $7-million expansion.
The project at John L. Gibson Centre on Pettit Road was approved in the 2023 and 2025 capital budgets at a total cost of more than $4.1 million,.
But that figure has increased to $7.2 million due to its changing scope, staff spacing needs and inflationary pressures, said a staff report presented during Monday’s council-in-committee meeting.
A report was brought to council in July and was deferred at that time.
Close to $1 million of the cost is meant for furnishings and equipment.
