Since turning on the new CT Scanner at Marotta Family Hospital in St. Catharines on Aug. 6, more than 2,000 patients have benefited from the most advanced diagnostic imaging technology in Canada.
It’s the first next-generation CT scanner installed at a Canadian hospital. Three others are being installed at Niagara Health hospitals in the months to come at a cost for all four of roughly $16 million.
Niagara Health showcased the new scanner last week, describing the Canon Aquilion One/Insight Edition as “a transformative step for our diagnostic imaging program,” providing improved image quality, lower radiation doses and faster scan times.
A second scanner will being installed at the St. Catharines hospital, and one each in Niagara Falls and Welland hospitals.
