STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Staten Island Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has elected Nicole Meyers as its new president.
“I am excited to build upon the legacy of this vital organization,” Meyers said. “The Staten Island NAACP has a rich history of advocating for African American communities and communities of color.
“We will continue to protect the hard-fought civil and human rights gained over the last 60 years and build a more united, just and empowered Staten Island.”
Meyers was sworn in on Sept. 3, 2025, for the 2026–28 program year, ushering the organization into its second century of civil rights advocacy.
Her election coincides with the branch’s centennial year. Founded on Nov. 5, 1925, under the leadership of William A. Morris Sr
