James Michael “Jimbo” Funderburg was born in Whittier, California, on Dec. 14, 1955, to Jerry and Arlene Funderburg.
He passed away on Aug. 25 in Yuma, Arizona. He had two siblings, John and Judy—“Jude.”
During his early childhood years, Jimbo spent as much time as he could on his grandparents' cattle ranch and, as a result, always aspired to be a cowboy. At one point, he owned his own horses, Lucky and Prince.
In 1965, the Funderburg family moved to Stanley, where they established Jerry’s Country Store and Motel. He graduated from Challis High School in 1974 and from the vocational education mechanics program at Boise State University in 1975.
Following that he got a summer job working for Steve Roberts Drilling up Basin Creek, and that is where his “tool pusher” (drilling) career beg
