Sports events often have a hard time living up to their expectations but that wasn’t the case Monday night in the District Two 3A volleyball showdown at Isenberg-Siler Gym.

The battle of the two remaining unbeaten district teams had everything you would expect and maybe even more as East’s Lady Hurricanes dropped the first two sets and then fought off three match points in the third before coming back for a thrilling 3-2 triumph over Heritage.

Both teams entered the match with 4-0 district marks, two games in front of the other four teams, but it was an unlikely rally that propelled East into first place to set the stage for another meeting between the two at Heritage on Tuesday.
