Double blow for West Bromwich as two major retailers quit high street

Two major retailers have quit West Bromwich High Street in recent weeks, adding to the large number of empty units on the once-thriving stretch.

Both New Look and Bodycare have closed their branches on the High Street, leaving significant gaps in the town.

New Look and Bodycare had both been in West Bromwich for years, with New Look replacing Littlewoods after it closed in 2005 and Bodycare also being on the street for decades.

While the New Square Shopping Centre in West Bromwich is busy with shoppers, there's very little left to do on the old High Street.

One boost it has had in recent weeks has been the opening of the new West Bromwich Indoor Market , with shoppers queuing for hours to get a taste of the nostalgic bakery Firkins some 10 years since it closed its last branch.
