Meet the Mets

The Mets lost a sluggish 9-3 game to the Phillies. The story of the game was yet another rough outing for the Mets pitching staff. Sean Manaea gave up four runs in five innings, including two home runs in the second inning. In three innings, Justin Hagenman gave up five runs, three of them on a Kyle Schwarber home run in the seventh inning. But the Mets anemic offense didn’t help matters. They scored three runs on eight hits, but they didn’t record a hit until the fifth inning. Every player except Francisco Lindor got a hit but no one got more than one hit. Mark Vientos, Jeff McNeil, and Juan Soto each drove in a run, and Soto also recorded a stolen base to officially reach 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases on the season.
