DESCHUTES COUNTY, Ore. (KPTV) - A woman was arrested after dozens of animals were seized from a suspected puppy mill, according to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office says 62-year-old Lorinda Maxwell was arrested on Sept. 5 and is facing 49 felony counts of second-degree animal neglect.

The investigation began earlier this month after a woman bought a dog through a website from Maxwell, who uses the business name “Kameo Poodles”. The woman then contacted the sheriff’s office with concerns about the dog’s health.

Deputies, along with animal control technicians, responded to Maxwell’s home on Elk Lane in Alfalfa and found what they believed to be a puppy mill. Maxwell reportedly refused to surrender the dogs voluntarily.
