Evansville Mayor Stephanie Terry presented her 2026 budget overview in front of city leaders yesterday.
She plans to use the general city fund for road improvements, safety, and affordable housing.
Mayor Terry says she is trying to fill the funding gap caused by the state’s Senate Bill 1.
The Bill that does not give homeowners relief on their property taxes has caused a large reduction in city revenue.
She plans to close the gap by temporarily dipping into casino revenues.
The public is invited to the next two budget meetings on September 22 and October 6.
