RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A brutal and seemingly random stabbing attack on a Charlotte light rail train has ignited conversations around pre-trial release for people convicted of violent crimes.
The stabbing, caught on video, killed Iryna Zarutska as she was sitting in her seat. The man accused, DeCarlos Brown, is now facing a murder charge.
Brown has an extensive criminal history, with several felony charges and convictions, including robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.
North Carolina Congressman Tim Moore says enough is enough, and he’s calling for the magistrate judge, Teresa Stokes, who previously released Brown on an unrelated charge, to be removed. He penned a letter to North Carolina’s Chief Judge Roy Wiggins asking for Stokes to be removed. All o
